Ambipar Response Oil Spill Operation

Overview

The Tom Scruby was mobilised from Southampton to Belfast at short notice to support Ambipar's 24-hour standby oil spill response operations at Cloghan Jetty, Belfast Lough, during a shore-to-ship fuel transfer.

How We delivered

Once on station, the vessel was fitted with Ambipar's Current Buster 6, a 63m towable boom vane system that opens to an impressive 34m wide. Thanks to the Tom Scruby's large working deck and twin Effer cranes, the entire system could be deployed, towed and recovered using a single vessel.

The Outcome

While an emergency response was fortunately not required, the crew took the opportunity to assist with a planned deployment exercise, successfully demonstrating the system's capabilities and maintaining response readiness.
