Heavy lift vessel discharge support
The Challenge
Princess Yachts required the safe offload of a 65ft motor yacht that had been damaged in Greece and transported back to the UK on a heavy-lift vessel. On arrival in Plymouth, the yacht was unable to float under its own power, creating a time-sensitive logistical challenge within a busy port environment. CMF Freight, responsible for the overall transport, needed a dependable marine operations partner that could coordinate the offload, manage port-side logistics and provide a stable, secure platform for the transfer. Precision, control and local marine knowledge were essential to ensure the operation could be completed safely and without delay.
The Approach

MPH mobilised rapidly, deploying the Sea Rider barge from our local fleet to support the offload. Using our experience in marine plant hire and complex port movements, we planned the operation around tidal windows, access constraints and heavy-lift sequencing.
Our team coordinated closely with CMF Freight and port authorities to align vessel positioning, lifting procedures and safety controls. With skilled marine operators on board and a stable barge platform in position, we managed the full offloading process - from receiving the yacht from the heavy-lift vessel to securing it ashore at the Plymouth facility.
The operation showcased the strength of MPH’s integrated approach: specialist kit, experienced crews and clear, pragmatic coordination across multiple parties.
The Outcome

The 65ft yacht was transferred safely and efficiently, allowing CMF Freight and Princess Yachts to proceed with onward assessment and repair arrangements without operational disruption. MPH’s rapid mobilisation, reliable fleet availability and confident handling of a sensitive vessel ensured the entire process ran smoothly. The project reaffirmed MPH’s capability in delivering high-stakes marine logistics support, particularly where stability, precision and effective collaboration are critical.
